Postpartum Doula Services

The early days of having a newborn are sacred, tender, and unique to each family. Postpartum doula support offers nurturing care in the early days and weeks after birth, helping you and your family find rhythm, confidence, true rest, and healing.

As postpartum doulas, we provide individualized support to your unique experience. Whether this is your first baby or your fifth, we’re here to walk alongside you with practical help, emotional support, and whole-hearted guidance. Our heart is to walk alongside your family as you grow in intuition, agency, and surrender through your journey of raising the next generation.

What to Expect

At Expectant, we recognize each family has unique needs and craft a plan to care for you right where you’re at. Our postpartum doulas are here to support you.

Here are some common ways a postpartum doula can help support you and your growing family:

Baby Care

Our doulas help educate and support you with caring for your baby. Your postpartum doula can help with calming down a fussy baby, burping, swaddling, bathing, baby-wearing, sleep support, provide education on developmental milestones, help create new routines for your family and so much more.

Infant Feeding Support

Are you wanting to breastfeed, formula feed, or combo feed? Your doula can help with latch assistance, identifying feeding cues, position tips and tricks, referrals/resources, bottle feeding tips, help with navigating your breast pump, or assistance with preparation and storage, etc.

Household Tasks and Chores

The early days of bringing home a baby requires time to rest for bonding and healing. Expectant doulas want to walk alongside you to help care for your home. We can do your laundry, wash your dishes, tidy your spaces, and keep your bedside table stocked with all that you need to take care of your baby and yourself. We can also run simple errands to keep things running smoothly.

Nourishment

When recovering from birth, it’s helpful to have nourishing meals. Our doulas can help meal plan and meal prep for your family so you have what you need to heal. Sometimes that’s putting a crock-pot meal in for later, throwing together a yummy lunch, stocking your fridge and freezer with healthy easy to grab meals for the next day, or prepping nutritious snacks to eat.

Care for the Mother

Motherhood is a transformative journey. Our doulas come alongside you to support you through the ongoing transformation that takes place in the postpartum season. We tend to physical, emotional, spiritual, practical, and relational needs. Our doulas come in with expectant hearts, ready to hold space and tend to whatever needs arise.

Community

Community support is something really important that has been a little lost in our culture. Our doulas want to help educate your existing community on how to care for you better, as well as connect you to resources and people to strengthen and build it. That can look like helping older siblings find a role to play, giving dads and other family/friends some tools to help care for you better, or making referrals to other providers in the area to support your specific needs.
