Emily McMakin
Emily is a postpartum doula who supports families with a calm, steady presence during the early weeks after birth. She is deeply committed to helping parents feel informed, confident, and emotionally supported during what can be a tender and overwhelming transition into life with a new baby.
Her passion for supporting women began while working overseas alongside Christian midwives, serving women and families in under-resourced communities. That experience shaped her approach to postpartum care, rooted in deep respect, cultural humility, and the belief that every woman deserves to be seen, supported, and treated with dignity during motherhood.
She has a particular heart for parents navigating anxiety, exhaustion, or uncertainty, and is known for her ability to explain things clearly while offering steady emotional grounding. Emily supports families with warmth and thoughtful care, honoring each family’s values and needs.
Emily is currently pursuing certification as a lactation counselor and continues to expand her education in infant feeding and postpartum support. She is also a mother herself and understands firsthand the importance of compassionate care during the postpartum season.
LOVES: time with her husband and three children, especially slow evenings filled with board games, and snuggling in bed with her girls while watching classics like Little House on the Prairie. She feels most grounded in nature, enjoying hiking, exploring, and breathing in fresh air, and she will always choose Mexican food when given the option.
